This past Friday, RTN covered the Craig Monroe Memorial in the Enyon Ball Room. Craig Monroe was the dean of Communications at Rowan University, and had a long history with a great many collegues across the country. In recognition of that, in partnership with the Rowan University IT department, the memorial service was streamed live. I was put in charge of operating the Tricaster, acting as director, technical director, VTR operator, audio operator, and to an extent, producer. What’s embedded here is the version we streamed live. We also had a third cameraman moving about with an HVX-200A armed with P2 cards to shoot additional footage, which we intend to edit together for any DVD requests we might have (so far, two people have asked me about obtaining duplications).

Successful testing of a live clock inserted into a video stream
February 17th, 2009 — RTN, Sports, Technology, Television, Video
We have successfully inserted a live clock shot with a camera from a live video source by washing it through a Panasonic AG-MX70 video mixer and piping that through a Tricaster for the rest of the video.
There’s supposed to be a video here, however due to some minor technical difficulties, it’s not available right now. I’ll insert it once I get the video to work properly.

Guest Appearance On “The Great Debate”
November 27th, 2008 — RTN, Television, The Great Debate, Uncategorized, Video
For those who aren’t aware, The Great Debate is a show on RTN in which guests debate various rather nonsensical topics. An emphasis is placed on answers being humor, and appealing to the host’s vanity is often a good way of winning an argument on almost any topic.

Devin’s RTN Promos
November 27th, 2008 — RTN, Television, Video
A fellow RTN member, Devin, expressed an interest in producing a series of short promotional spots for the channel as an opportunity to learn basic digital production. I served as camera operator, and attempted to teach Devin how to record audio and manipulate video. He had his own stylistic twist on the production.
Devin’s concept was simple: present a behind the scenes look at what it is we do at RTN through the eyes of a jilted lover, complete with some disjointed edits and almost nonsensical shots to reflect the narrator’s mental state.
