Why Class Should Be Canceled

My friend believes her class tomorrow ought to be canceled preemptively due to weather. In all honesty, the weather isn’t so great out there (especially given the quality of Glassboro snow removal), but her first attempt wasn’t persuasive enough, so we decided to take another crack at it. Video follows:

My Friend MJ Is Never Going To Give You Up.

Last night my friend MJ participated in a karaoke competition, and the song he chose was absolutely priceless. Having no more than a few minutes forewarning, I decided to do a quick multi-cam job on the performance. I ended up having to manually synchronize four video feeds, from an Apple iSight, a Nokia N73, a Motorola W490 (in 20-30 second clips), and a Canon PowerShot. I’m not entirely satisfied with the color correction I did, but I wanted to get a version online rather quickly so my friends could enjoy it and pass it around, so without further adieu, MJ:

Monroe Memorial

This past Friday, RTN covered the Craig Monroe Memorial in the Enyon Ball Room. Craig Monroe was the dean of Communications at Rowan University, and had a long history with a great many collegues across the country. In recognition of that, in partnership with the Rowan University IT department, the memorial service was streamed live. I was put in charge of operating the Tricaster, acting as director, technical director, VTR operator, audio operator, and to an extent, producer. What’s embedded here is the version we streamed live. We also had a third cameraman moving about with an HVX-200A armed with P2 cards to shoot additional footage, which we intend to edit together for any DVD requests we might have (so far, two people have asked me about obtaining duplications).

Successful testing of a live clock inserted into a video stream

We have successfully inserted a live clock shot with a camera from a live video source by washing it through a Panasonic AG-MX70 video mixer and piping that through a Tricaster for the rest of the video.

There’s supposed to be a video here, however due to some minor technical difficulties, it’s not available right now. I’ll insert it once I get the video to work properly.

The PRSSA Crossfire Debate for 2008

The 25th annual PRSSA Crossfire Debate occured this past Wednesday. I served on the crew as combination Technical Director and CG operator.

Guest Appearance On “The Great Debate”

For those who aren’t aware, The Great Debate is a show on RTN in which guests debate various rather nonsensical topics. An emphasis is placed on answers being humor, and appealing to the host’s vanity is often a good way of winning an argument on almost any topic.

Devin’s RTN Promos

A fellow RTN member, Devin, expressed an interest in producing a series of short promotional spots for the channel as an opportunity to learn basic digital production. I served as camera operator, and attempted to teach Devin how to record audio and manipulate video. He had his own stylistic twist on the production.

Devin’s concept was simple: present a behind the scenes look at what it is we do at RTN through the eyes of a jilted lover, complete with some disjointed edits and almost nonsensical shots to reflect the narrator’s mental state.
